The Path to Homeownership was the first edition of a mortgage and home-buying seminar at Global Link. For the first time, advisors from five major Canadian banks joined us to guide future homeowners through the process.

Why We Created The Path to Homeownership
Many families in our community dream of owning a home but do not know where to start. Some worry about their credit history as newcomers, others are unsure how much they can afford. We wanted to create one clear, friendly place where they could get answers from real experts.
The idea was simple: bring the lenders to the community, instead of asking the community to visit five different bank branches.
What Guests Learned
- How mortgages work in Canada
- What lenders look at before approving a loan
- Key closing tips from a real estate lawyer
- A look at possible future market conditions
Every step on the Path to Homeownership has a cost, from the down payment to legal fees, insurance and moving. Before signing any agreement, buyers should understand the full cost of owning a home. The Government of Canada’s home buying guide is a helpful place to start.
The Path to Homeownership Experience
Guests were welcomed with live music before the seminar and a light dinner at the end, making the evening feel like a community gathering rather than a lecture. Local businesses were invited to sponsor the event and introduce their services.
The strong interest in this first edition led to a second edition later in the year, with even more questions from families preparing to buy.
The Path to Homeownership
