Nights of the South brought the rhythm, colours, flavours and aromas of Southern Iran to Global Link on May 16, 2025, from 7 to 10 PM. It was one night to feel the true soul of the south, all in one place.
Nights of the South: Culture, Music and Tradition
The southern coast of Iran, along the Persian Gulf, has its own sound. Its music is driven by drums, the ney-anban (a bagpipe-like instrument) and energetic dance. Its food is shaped by the sea, spices and dates. Read more about Bandari music.
Program Highlights
- Live Ney-Anban and Sorna by Ali Ourangi and Hamed Bolandhemmat
- Energetic Bandari dance by Elnaz Ghasemi
- A traditional henna ceremony (hana-bandan)
- Khayyam’s poetry under the moonlight
- Music with a DJ
Guests were treated to authentic Southern Iranian dishes and unique regional drinks, full of the warmth of the sun, the soul of the sea and the sweetness of dates. The evening was designed as a full sensory journey, not just a concert.

شور، صدا، رنگ، طعم و عطر جنوب؛ شبی فراموش‌نشدنی سرشار از فرهنگ، موسیقی و آیین‌های دل‌انگیز نواحی جنوبی ایران: اجرای زندهٔ نی‌انبان و سرنا با هنرنمایی علی اورنگی و حامد بلندهمت، رقص بندری با اجرای الناز قاسمی، آیین حنابندان، خیام‌خوانی زیر نور ماه و موسیقی با دی‌جی.
پذیرایی با غذاهای سنتی جنوبی و نوشیدنی‌های خاص جنوب بود. ۱۶ می ۲۰۲۵، ساعت ۷ تا ۱۰ شب، 88 Doncaster Ave.
